The Mer de Nuage or the sea of cloud is a natural phenomena which occurs here in the French Alps, when warm moist air is trapped by colder air, forming and compressing cloud into the valleys. Result- mountain tops peaking out of what looks like a white sea. Bright sunshine for you, sub zero temperatures for the valley dwellers.Another reason to come to the mountains - but stay high.
